Generic microgrid controller with self-healing capabilities

Generic Microgrid Controller (GMC) specifications, developed at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to support standardization microgrid controllers and guide IEEE standards were applied UCI (UCIMG) for testing deployment. While transition dispatch capabilities GMC simulated demonstrated, response controller internal faults while islanded or inadvertent trip generation not addressed previously. The present study adds self-healing operations with goal enhance reliability serving critical loads, resiliency system. To verify assess attributes as well impacts on islanded, capability was UCIMG model MATLAB Simulink. enhanced recently deployed redundancies including two new switchyards redundant lines, then divided into sections (1) focus high priority (2) reduce number nodes computational requirements. Our explores a real system platform using FLISR (fault location, isolation service restoration) approach part controller. This expert systems precalculated predetermined sequence makes it practical simple solution which can be implemented without having deal limits time constraints. Results show that, even fault-induced circuit outage during operation, loads served by interconnected circuits rapidly dispatched switching, thereby minimizing loss noncritical increasing resiliency.
